Manfrotto 161MK2B Tripod

Or as I call it, “The Beast!” The Manfrotto 161MK2B tripod lives up to that term of endearment. This black anodized aluminum tripod weighs in at a massive 17.5 pounds without an attached tripod head or camera. It’s maximum extension height is a whopping 105.1 inches. That’s almost 9 feet when fully extended (step ladder sold separately)! This is my go-to tripod for beach house exteriors. The added height allows me to get closer to deck level than a regular tripod which allows me to feature the exterior of the house without getting too much underside beams and support rafters in the shot. It helps make the viewer see more of an eye level view keeping the rooftop in view instead of looking up at the house. The 161MK2B tripod has 3 section legs with twist locks and fully adjustable mid-level spreaders for stability and rigidity during use. A geared locking center column allows you to have precise control over your shooting height which is invaluable in real estate photography. Paired with the Arca Swiss d4 tripod head this tripod is up to the task for real estate as well as studio photo and video use. Make sure you hit the gym a few times a week if you need to work with this beast though. It will definitely give you a work out! At a cost of just over $600 its no cheap piece of equipment but, when cared for properly this tripod will last you for years to come.

Using the Manfrotto 161MK2B allows me to see all of the architectural features of taller than normal homes including roof details without bringing undo attention to beams and support rafters under the main floor of the homes. I have found that this view sets my exterior shots apart from my competition.
